How to Take Better Photos of: Architecture

Back

The architectural photographers documents architects art. To become a good architectural photographer you need to broaden your knowledge about architectural history, styles, architects and material used in the construction.

The main consideration in Architcectural Photography is light. A professional photographer may spend several days in checking the look and the atmosphere of a building at different times of the day and will come in the evening when the interior light is on. On a dull cloudy day a building may look flat, grey and boring. But later afternoon the clouds will clear out and will bathe in golden light and look beautiful and alive. Buildings like the humans who created them have different personalities and you should try to capture that spirit.
• Use polarizer filter to stand out a still and glass tower building against the sky
• Photograph at dusk when there is not many people around and the street lights are still on
