How to Take Better Photos of: Photojournalism

Great news photography stories are unforgettable in our minds as they are a comment on the times in which they were taken. Photo Journalism is about capturing the essence of the human condition in pictures and photo stories that will inform and clarity the newspaper readers. To become a good photojournalist you have to remember that the key is the photographers attitude.

Most of this is intuitive but there are some basic qualities that you can develop.

1. Be aware of what is going on around you and be ready to be where the image moment will happen
2. Focus on your subject and always look for the effective emotional picture
3. Be friendly with others and respect them to get their help.
4. Be patient. Often the best photos happen when you have thought to give up.
5. Master your photography equipment so it becomes second nature when the moment arises.
6. Try to take advantage from problems or situations like mixed light sources inaccessibility and be creative.
7. The ability to anticipate action will come with experience
8. Remember the five ws, who, what, where, when, why.

Essential equipment for news photography: Two bodies of professional digital cameras (Nikon or Canon)

Two lenses Option A. Fixed 20mm (ultra wide angle) on one camera and 300mm (telephoto) on the other cameraOption B. Use zoom lenses 17-35mm on one camera and 70-300mm on the other camera.
