How to Take Better Photos of: Travel

To create a travel photograph, first plan you trip properly
• Read all about your travel destination before leaving your homeland
• Learn the local customs, main features and interesting events
• Carry a notebook, pen and dictionary for picture reference
• Try to travel alone so you can experiment the local community and have a higher
• Do not cover too many places in one day or over shoot on the first day in a new place.Try to observe the atmosphere

• Stand back and observe before shooting a number of frames. Check the subject through the lens, shoot on dry
• Carry a camera with you at all times. You will kick yourself if you miss a shot and you wont forget the image left in your brain
• Shoot both colour and black and white
• Take the shot first, do not put a shot until tomorrow the subject may not be there anymore
• Do not wear military clothing in a forgein country
• Do not photograph military institutions
• Professional photographers clean their camers in the end of every shooting , immediately after returning to the hotel room or the campground in the field
• Take notes of the place you visited and photographed
• Avoid giving charity to children in poor countries instead be friendly and share your food with them
• Use 80-200mm zoom lens on your camera and carry a 24mm lens wrapped in leather.
• Buy postcards of the place of interest so you can learn fro them how the photographers approached the subject and what kind of lens had been used. First take a photograph closer to the one on the postcard then walk around and try to photograph it from different angles with different lenses and filters
• Use a compass and note the position of the sun and the time when the light might be better. If necessary return to the spot for a better shot
• Find out if there are any special events taking place while you are in town
